We are proud to announce we have joined forces with Writing Our Legacy to bring their popular Poetry Room to The ARC, Winchester on Saturday 3rd June 2023.
This inaugural event celebrates the beginning of a partnership between Writing Our Legacy and Winchester Poetry Festival. Both organisations are thrilled to invite all who love words, culture and heritage to the Poetry Room.
Poetry Room boasts a stellar line-up of the UK’s finest creatives, thinkers, and musicians all under one roof! Your hosts for the evening are the poet, writer, performer Akila Richards (pictured) and DJ Fever2Ray (African Night Fever). Special guests are scientist, writer and activist Jasmine Qureshi; British Iranian artist and writer Alinah Azadeh; Indian writer and poet Susmita Bhattacharya and up-and-coming poet Kaycee Hill.
Together this impressive panel will consider the big issues for the African, Caribbean, Asian and Global Majority, and provide a space where everyone is welcome.

Writing Our Legacy CIC is an arts and heritage organisation that enables Black, Asian and ethnically diverse/BPOC* people to tell their story through writing and the creative arts. We were established in 2012 and are an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation 2023-26. We give writers and other creatives a platform and community to feel supported, nurtured and evolve their work through the creative pipeline, from start to publication. We share stories and heritage of diaspora communities and bring them to life through various art forms for audiences to learn and take part in cultural heritage.
Poetry Room is produced by Writing Our Legacy in partnership with Winchester Poetry Festival and Hampshire Cultural Trust. Supported by Arts Council England’s National Lottery funded Project Grant and South Downs National Park Authority
