WRITING WINCHESTER: A NEW MAP OF THE CITY

Weekly, Mondays 6:30-8:00pm  6,13,20 & 27 September

Free online writing workshops with Poet on the High Street, Jonny Fluffypunk, aiming to explore our relationships with Winchester- to re-map the city though words; to reconnect with place as we emerge from this strangest of years. We’ll be looking at connections, resonances, responses and the places where our stories intertwine with history; creeping up on familiar streets in unfamiliar ways.

With different angles each week, and using a variety of techniques, free-writing prompts and exercises, you are welcome to book for one workshop, or as many as you like. All are welcome - it’ll be lively, supportive and non-prescriptive- there’s no right and wrong, you bring YOU.

We are expecting these workshops to be popular so do book early. Places available are limited. Priority will be given to Winchester residents.

To apply email Workshop Bookings stating  the dates you would like to attend. Please include your address.

A HIDDEN HERITAGE OF EVERYDAY BEAUTY

A performative walk around Winchester

Saturday 18 September:
Walking tours 12:00 & 3:00pm
Sunday 19 September:
Walking tours 12:00 & 3:00pm

You’re warmly invited to join this entertaining salute to our hidden histories; the un-noted and un-remarked-upon contributions of our humble, stumbling existences to the city’s story.

Part aimless nosing around, part poetic promenade performance, part carefully-planned symbolic journey, Jonny will be wielding his laminated map covered in colour-coded stickers and leading participants on a short potted tour of Significant Moments in the lives of insignificant people.

See the Heritage Open Days website for more details

"I'm going to be popping up writing bespoke poems for punters for FREE at various places in Winchester over the summer.  And I'll be collecting YOUR STORIES to feed my own city-centred poetry. And you can make your mark on my Map of Unforgettable Moments.

It'll be fun. First come, first served."
