Joan McGavin, with degrees from Edinburgh University and the University of California, taught English in various Hampshire sixth-form colleges as well as at the University of Winchester. Her collection Flannelgraphs was published by Oversteps Books in 2011. She has had two Arts Council grants and in 2012 received a Hawthornden fellowship to work on a second collection. Passing Arcadia Close was published in 2017. She was the Hampshire Poet 2014.
Kate Raines has a background in consultancy PR, marketing and freelance writing. She has a strong interest in literature, theatre and visual arts, and was a director of 10 Days, Winchester's biennial contemporary arts platform. She has held positions as Head of Communications at Winchester’s Theatre Royal. Communications Manager at Downe House Independent Girls School, Newbury and now works as the Senior Marketing and Communications lead for Public Health at HCC.
Matthew West is a writer with a passion for poetry and its potential to make meaningful difference in people’s lives. As director of writing development agency ArtfulScribe, Matt uses writing as a tool to engage organisations, communities and individuals, empowering marginalised voices through workshops, residencies, showcases and CPD opportunities. Matt has an MA in Creative Writing from University of Southampton, is published online and in print and has a chapbook of poems, Seagulls and Spitfires.
