Our key creative partners
Working in partnership is an important part of our philosophy. From the outset we have devised the Winchester Poetry Festival programme in collaboration with some lively creative organisations whose work we admire and whose commitment and interest we especially value.
Like all the best poetry, Magma is always surprising. Every issue of Magma has a different editor and it’s that fresh eye in each issue which gives Magma its unique variety. The magazine aims to promote the very best in contemporary poetry. Poetry that’s alert to the world we live in, that’s honest and above all, unexpected. It may come from previously unpublished or emerging poets or the more established.
Founded by Ted Hughes and Daniel Weissbort in 1965 MPT affirms the vital importance of poetry in the modern world. It brings the best new translations, essays and reviews that address such characteristic signs of our times as exile, the movement of peoples, the search for asylum, and the speaking of languages outside their native home. MPT editor Sasha Dugdale is Artistic Co-Director of the 2016 Winchester Poetry Festival.
One of Britain’s most dynamic arts organisations, the Poetry Society champions poetry for all ages. Through events, publications, the Poetry Café, promotions and prizes the society ensures the highest artistic quality, creates a central position for poetry in the arts and continues to build new avenues to promote poets and poetry in Britain today.
